Aprils Glossybox gave a lovely iconic Hollywood edition themed box!
Being as we’re not all that far away from May I thought it was about time I got to reviewing my Glossybox’ April edition, I would like to start by apologising that is has taken so long, luckily if your interested in getting any of these products for yourself you can buy them from other places.
So what was in it:
Even though I do like a lot of the products given in this edition I can definitely say I preferred March’ edition but of course that is the surprise with boxes like Glossybox and Birch!
Firstly we’ll start with Lord & Berry Lipstick Pencil in Kiss
‘The perfect Marilyn red. This modern take on a classic pillar box hue is ideal for spring. Unlike your usual lipstick, it’s in pencil form – making application easier than ever! Long-lasting and softening, the beautiful matte finish can also be glossed up with a stick of lip balm.
Full size: £10, Shop at: www.selfridges.com
If your a red lipstick kinda girl then this is definitely one for you!
I do like red lipstick but for me its more of a special occasion wear than casual, I think this shade and style would be perfect for summer also! Personally I do think lipstick itself is easier to apply than pencil however this is very soft and glides on very easily but for me personally I just feel with a lipstick you do have more control for the shape of outlining your lips but that could just be personal practise and experience; I rarely use lip pencils but I admit this is definitely lovely to apply, it just takes a little bit more patience and time, so definitely don’t try and use it when your in a rush!
Astral Original: Face and body moisturiser. ‘This versatile, rich moisturising cream has been a firm favourite amongst Hollywood stars and make-up artists alike since its creation in the 1950’s – and we’re not surprised. Perfect for all ages, Astral hydrates deep below the skin’s surface and can even be used to remove make-up!’
Full size: £3.89 for 200ml, Shop at: www.boots.com
I absolutely love this product! I just can’t believe how much of a bargain this really is! I feel like this is the product I have been searching for, for ages and now I finally know it.
I don’t know if you can quite tell from within my second picture but this is of course a cream moisturiser and its consistency is very! thick. When you first take of the foil seal and pop your finger in you’ll instantly notice its thickness and bounciness, it is almost like a sponge, it moulds to the shape of your finger and feels SO nice on your skin. When you then place it onto your bare face its as if it melts, it turns from being very thick to all of a sudden very thin and light which rubs into your skin perfectly and covers everywhere beautifully.. you don’t really even need all that much, possibly four blobs on each, depending on how much you want to put on.
In terms of your skin, it results in feeling very soft and hydrated throughout the day, it’s also great for face preparation. I put this on twice a day, first in the morning before applying my make-up, as putting this on first makes applying my make-up even more effortless and easy! and then lastly at the end of the day after I’ve taken of my days make-up.
Pop beauty: Kajal eyeliner pen. Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic cat eye has never been easier to recreate, thanks to this sooty black kohl pencil from pop beauty. Create a flicked wing with one swipe and what’s more, it’s super easy to blend for a smokier effect.
Full size: £6.50, Shop at: www.popbeauty.co.uk
I have used this eyeliner a couple of times and unfortunately have to say I am quite disappointed with this product. For me it never seems to glide on well, its more the fact of making short strokes to get a line. It also rubs away and smudges very easily which doesn’t work for me as I can get watery eyes for no apparent reason so when wearing this I always feel on edge as to how my eye make-up is looking. However one part I do like is the smudger end, it always blends my eyeliner very well.
Colour club: Barely there nail polish. ‘Nude nails are a key trend for this spring, which also has roots in the Hollywood era. This is one of our favourite shades for the coming season and complements any skin tone for a glossy and sophisticated finish.
Full size: £4.10, Shop at: www.colourclub.com
This is a very typical nude for me the colour is a mixture of a soft sand with a hint of soft pink.
I do like this colour, it is very neutral and I will definitely continue to wear it throughout the summer, however I do think this shade of nail polish could be worn in the winter also. I’ve also found that this polish (depending on how much you apply) drys much quicker than other nail polishes I own and use, which is good of course. Personally I think this colour drys with a strong matte finish but then it does have a hint of gloss, so I guess to me this is a glossy matte finish (if that’s even possible).
I also feel this nail polish would look really pretty with a top coat of perhaps glitter or the sequinned bits.
IDC: Body Lotion. ‘Following in the footsteps of our favourite Hollywood icons, who loved taking the time to pamper, indulge in the beautiful aroma of lavender or so with this soothing body lotion. Quickly absorbed, it instantly hydrates and nourishes for beautiful skin, leaving it silky soft and delicately scented.’
Full size: £3.59 for 100ml
‘Glossybox says: Apply liberally all over your body in upwards circular motions until completely absorbed’
This is going to be very short and sweet as I could not bare to use this product (but being part of the Glossybox’ April edition I had to include it in my review), I am definitely not saying there is anything wrong with this product it is purely down to the fact that I cannot stand the smell of Lavender and this definitely smells of it!
