Following on from my summer inspired make-up look (blogpost); ‘A Step into Summer’, I thought I’d continue the summery theme and create a post all about summer lip shades! – After all summers only around once a year.. if that!
In this post I have put together a collection of both higher-end lippies & drugstore brands, although I must admit there are a few more higher-end brands than drugstore, as when it comes to lip products I do like to push the boat out just a little. Within this group of ten lippies, I have liquid lipsticks and matte, satin and creme finishes plus an array of gorgeous packaging that’ll get your heart racing!
..and here are my 10 summer lippies.. in no particular order:
Left to right:
NYX Lingerie • Rosie for Autograph – Camisole Blush • MAC – Faux • NYX Liquid Suede • NARS – Jane • Tom Ford – Pink Dusk • NARS – Brigitte • YSL – 44 • TooFaced – Chocolate Milkshake • Rimmel – 101
NARS Audacious Lipstick: Brigitte
The shade: ‘Brigitte’, by NARS has always been one of my favourite lipsticks to wear! It’s described by NARS as a Nude Rose and I have to say I can completely agree with that. This lipstick is also very comfortable to wear, as it doesn’t dry your lips out – even though it has a demi-matte finish and with it’s lightweight, creme texture it also applies very easily too.
NARS Audacious Lipstick: Jane
‘Jane’, is again a shade that I adore! It’s described by NARS as a Terracotta Rose, which I have to agree with once again – although I would also describe this shade to have a deep red and slightly brown undertone too. Just like the shade ‘Brigitte’, I would also say that this lipstick has a demi-matte finish and an also lovely creme texture. Making this a great substitute for a red lip plus it looks great against tanned skin!
Rosie for Autograph Lipstick: Camisole Blush
Moving onto a slightly more affordable brand, this is a lipstick from the Rosie for Autograph collection that is exclusive to Marks & Spencer’s. This shade of lipstick is in my opinion a lovely one for summer, as it’s a beautiful soft pink with a glistening creme finish, which is also incredibly comfortable to wear with it’s hydrating and nourishing texture.
Rimmel, Lasting Finish by Kate Moss, shade: 101
Generally, Rimmel lipsticks are excellent value for money and in my opinion are definitely one of the best drugstore brands for lip products! This matte shade is very summer appropriate, as it can be worn casually everyday or combined with much more extravagant eye make-up and worn during the evening too. I would personally describe the shade: 101, to be a soft pink with a slight blue undertone.
TooFaced Melted Chocolate: Chocolate Milkshake
Firstly, I LOVE the application method to these liquified lipsticks, as the product applies onto the lips through a soft and wide, flat sponge. The Melted lipsticks are designed to be long-lasting and as far as I’m aware they do just that! This shade is a gorgeously matte creamy brown that also fills the air with a chocolatey aroma! YUM.
Tom Ford Lipstick: Pink Dusk
‘Pink Dusk’ has to be one of my all-time favourite ‘go to’ lipsticks – as I love how simple and comfortably this applies onto the lips but also this shade is just so wearable and so so pretty! I would describe ‘Pink Dusk’, as a soft pink nude with a healthy and glowy finish.
NYX Liquid Suede: LSCL09
It’s fair to say that liquid lipsticks are hugely in fashion at the moment!
This hot pink with a blue undertone liquid lipstick dries with a matte finish but also applies pretty easily too as it has a soft sponge wand applicator.
MAC Lipstick: Faux
A group of lippies could not be complete without a MAC one slipping in.. ‘Faux’ by MAC is a gorgeous muted-mauve pink shade with a satin texture and finish.
NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick: Bedtime Flirt
‘Bedtime Flirt’ is a great nude shade, as it also has a slight brown and rose’y undertone to it.
YSL Rouge Shine Lipstick: 44
I could not complete this line-up without mentioning a YSL product! As their lipsticks are of such good quality. This soft and subtle pinky nude shade is absolutely beautiful, as it has a very ideal moisturising and hydrating texture that leaves the lips with a healthy glow.
Those are ten lippies that I would recommend for the summer time but of course are not them all – as I happily wear many other shades too. I would love to know, what are your ‘go to’ summer lip shades?
