What happens when you combine the elegance of Dior skincare with the sophistication of Dior beauty?
Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin Perfect Cushion
Some may say, that to spend sixty-two pounds on either a piece of makeup or a piece of skincare is rather excessive, and you know what, to some extent, I totally get it. Although, what would they say if this singular product was, in fact, a combination of them both?!
The Capture Totale Dreamskin Perfect Cushion is displayed proudly with the rest of the Capture Totale family on any Dior beauty counter.
It doesn’t claim to be makeup… which may be because it actually isn’t. It doesn’t pretend to be something that it’s not, as it states, ‘to leave the complexion appearing exquisite, even without the use of foundation’! It is, first and foremost a skincare based product, that just so happens to be great for the complexion too.
But, what makes this so great?!
Why is a piece of skincare, a tinted liquid formula or a foundation – WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT – marked up with such a hefty price tag, that is sixty-two pounds or eighty-two dollars?!
Well, this sophisticated little product has some pretty expensive ingredients sat within its formula, with the main one being the actual Capture Totale Dreamskin itself.
This product is described by Dior to help the complexion by minimising the appearance and visible signs of aging – wrinkles, pores, redness, and dullness. In addition to this, and with the combination of both the tinted liquid formula and the remarkable piece of skin care, your complexion will be left appearing fresh, matte but beautifully luminous and glowy. Your skin is said to be protected perfectly by the Skincare’s SPF 50 and PA +++, although, overall, your complexion will appear even in tone, smooth in texture but oh so natural and radiant!
Much to my surprise though, you actually get an extra refill of your chosen shade within the box! Which isn’t too bad I guess, especially once considering that a single refill will cost you £32.50 each…
“Never before has skin care done this much for the complexion’s natural beauty”
(Applied onto the skin using the Dior compact cushion pad – provided)
As true as this all is! It is rather difficult to define exactly the purpose of this product. I mean, what would you call it? A piece of skincare, a primer, a pre-foundation layer or just simply a blooming foundation?!
My own product lives besides every other face powder or cushion compact that I own, and I use this on those days when I want a really lovely, healthy looking, dewy complexion overall. I often tend to combine this with a slightly fuller coverage foundation too, unless of course, I am after the more ‘natural look’! I also try to avoid powdering my face when using this product, as Dior recommend ‘touch ups’ throughout the day when using this and layering this creamy liquidy formula over powder just wouldn’t work well in the end…
I think one very important thing to remember is that this isn’t makeup. It isn’t technically just a piece of skin care either but it certainly isn’t a foundation. This is a product to use in the mornings, throughout the day or even after your usual skincare routine.
It sets out to freshen the complexion – and give an even but natural, matte but luminous finish, which is ideal for any age, skin type of tone. This isn’t a product that is going to give your complexion a coverage so to speak but then hypocritically, it will lightly conceal and smoothen skins texture – ultimately evening out redness, pores, wrinkles, and dullness elegantly by the ever so lightweight tinted liquid formula that is trapped within the cushion itself.
In all, I must say that this is a completely unique style of product to me, as I’ve certainly never come across anything like this before!!!
The Capture Totale Dreamskin Perfect Cushion is without a doubt, an absolutely beautiful product. The packaging is luxurious, classical and just so very pretty…
I just don’t know if this product is necessary, to say the least?! For instance, if I want a glowy complexion, would I not just use a piece of skincare and a light coverage foundation? It’s difficult because I genuinely like this product, I just don’t really understand the point of it. If it was a foundation, then yes I get it! It would be a foundation with added skincare benefits but this isn’t… it isn’t a foundation and it doesn’t want to be known as a foundation… because Dior sells this as skin care product?!
Based on the fact that I do get use out of this product, I would have to say that I do like it!
It suits me well for those days when I don’t want to wear a face full of makeup but I do want to wear a little bit of something just to make me feel a little more presentable overall. It’s also a lovely product to use for lifting the complexion and making it appear, more glowy, more radiant and just slightly more awake too.
I do feel like this cushion compact in-particular would be very beneficial to a slightly more mature skin type too, as I know a lot of ladies who don’t like to necessarily wear a full face of makeup every day but still like to have a little something on their skin!
