NARS Wanted Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

After giving into temptation yet again, I am here to tell you my thoughts on the latest, limited-edition eyeshadow palette by NARS.

The “Wanted” Palette by NARS brings with it, twelve supposedly high-impact shadows, suitable for all skin tones and ranging from matte finishes to satins, there is even the odd glittering metallic finish here and there. Claimed by NARS themselves, this palette has enabled the brand to introduce an all-new pure pigment formula, which is described to give the richest colour payoff in just one stroke!

Swatches (L-R): Biarritz • Satisfaction • Delirium • Temptress • Seven Heaven • Shadow Hill • Mendoza • Wicked Game • Shooting Star • LA LA • Fallen Star • Coconut Grove

For the retail price of £55, I must tell you first and foremost that at first I was a little disappointed by the size of this palette, as it does appear petite and very compact in both size and shape. Although, fear not, as after further inspection I can tell you that the size of this palette has more to it than meets the eye. In comparison to the favourite Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette, I can tell you that these both hold an even number of twelve shadows, although the weight for each shadow in the Naked Heat Palette is 1.3g whereas the shadows in the Wanted Palette by NARS are 1.4g. So, actually, the NARS Wanted Palette isn’t that small after all and as I first thought!

It is an expensive palette, please don’t get me wrong and it is definitely hard to justify ever spending a large sum like this on just one eyeshadow palette alone. Even when your makeup junkie like myself. Although, I must tell you that I do not regret buying this palette or indeed spending my hard-earned cash on it. If I was to loose this palette, break it even or actually finish this palette entirely, then I would consider repurchasing it, which I know is just crazy to say.

Overall and in complete honesty, I would have to tell you that I am a big fan of this eyeshadow palette by NARS and can definitely see why so many people are currently raving about it! When I first laid eyes on this palette, I must say that I was a little hesitant about trying it out for myself, as I have definitely tried NARS eyeshadows in the past but can’t say that I really approved of them. Although, after reading that so many of my favourite influencers online where too adoring this palette, I thought why not. Why not give NARS a second chance?

Whether the new formula is now to thank or not, I couldn’t quite say for sure BUT these eyeshadows do indeed have a lovely formula in my opinion and just like so many others also say! It is soft yet silky-like, smooth and really buttery, which in all makes these eyeshadows really lovely to both apply and wear.

They apply onto the lids both precisely and very pigmented indeed by a number of different forms of application (i.e. makeup brushes both wet and dry OR indeed one’s finger). The colours are rich, as well as saturated and very good quality as far as I can see. They blend seamlessly and just appear so incredibly effortless in my opinion but also very effective too. I love the shade range within the palette also, as a number of different styles of looks can so easily be created with it. They are buildable, complementary to one another and also sit so incredibly beautiful on the skin in my opinion.

Another reason as to why I adore this palette so much is that you can happily and so easily wear one of these incredibly pigmented shadows alone for a simpler style of look OR really go to town and create something rather edgy and dramatic indeed with many different shadows combined! I just love how versatile and travel-friendly this palette is and would certainly consider it one of my all-time favourite eyeshadow palettes at this moment in time. Go NARS!!! This a good’un.

I’m loving these shades. I’m having such a thing for warm-toned palettes at the moment and this is really pretty. Love the look you created with it! – Amy X
