Where are all of these new foundations coming from? I’m all for trying out new products and all BUT don’t you think that there’s a lot of them all of a sudden? My poor little complexion cannot keep up! Following this review, you can be sure to expect ones on the new NARS Radiance Foundation, as well as a review on the new Dior Forever Undercover Foundation and the pairing concealer.
Today, I really wanted to sit down and share my thoughts with you all on the NEW Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation by Bobbi Brown. This foundation retails for around the £31 price mark and supposedly wears for up to 16-hours! It is said to give one a full coverage with a natural, multidimensional matte finish, which is comfortable, breathable and weightless too.
Bobbi Brown says that their new foundation has an ultra-silky formula, that also features a ‘perfectly balanced blend of skin-loving ingredients’. From oil controlling activities to skin-true pigments, this foundation claims to be incredibly smooth, blendable and appear like second-skin, all with a multidimensional matte finish!
With complete and utter honesty, I can’t really say as to whether I dislike this foundation or not because on some days this foundation really works for me, whilst on others, it definitely does not.
One thing I can say for certain though is that this foundations formula sets and dries rather rapidly once applied onto the skin in my opinion! So you definitely have to work quite quickly with it, ensuring that it is completely blended before moving onto other areas of your makeup! The foundation also has a rather thickish consistency in my opinion, which isn’t too bad because I wouldn’t call it particularly heavy – it just isn’t all that liquidy or runny as far as I can see.
At first, the finish is one that I would definitely describe as glowy. Although, as I have said previously, this foundation does dry down pretty much instantly, revealing that multidimensional matte finish just as Bobbi Brown describes it!
To wear, I would have to say that on my naturally drier and sensitive skin type, this foundation does feel as though it is being worn – which is why I, therefore, couldn’t describe the NEW Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation as weightless or lighweight in any sense…
There is a slight tackiness to the finish of this foundation also, which is perhaps a little unfortunate because I really dislike using powered products over the top of my foundation usually. Mostly because of how these types of products usually sit on the surface of my skin – all thanks to my naturally drier and quite dull skin type and tone! Unfortunately, I would also have to say that the use of some sort of setting powder is pretty much of a necessity in my opinion because on my skin, this foundation creases and settles into those finer lines on my forehead, around my under-eyes and also in my smile lines, which is just not a good look… As I always feel incredibly aged when this happens and not in a good way.
Just like Bobbi Brown say though, my skins natural texture was definitely visible underneath the coverage of this foundation every time I have indeed worn it. This isn’t something that I would perhaps call a positive, however, only because my skins natural texture is a little uneven to say the least. Although, you certainly couldn’t blame this on the foundation itself, as it is actually described to appear like second-skin! Along with this, and keeping in line with skins texture, I would also most definitely recommend the use of a pore filling primer prior to applying this foundation and wearing it. Only because on my skin personally – without the use of some sort of pore-filling primer – this foundation did emphasise my larger pores quite badly.
In all, I would have to say that this foundation may seem like a bad’un as far as I am aware… BUT in all honesty, I definitely cannot say that it is in my opinion! When my skin is well hydrated and lovely and moisturised this foundation works really beautifully on my complexion. I would, of course, still recommend the use of a pore-filling primer beforehand because one of these definitely helps me out as far as larger pores are concerned and those ageing fine lines!
When I am having a bad skin day, however, this foundation can appear dreadful on me personally. Believe me, my skin is dry in appearance, dull and just really unhealthy looking. Although, on a rare occasion when my skin is in a good condition, I really like to use this foundation, as I definitely feel confident with the appearance of my skin and how my makeup is sitting on it.
