Uping my hair game.

Just a few moments ago I stepped out of the shower, after treating my hair to a delightful little taste of the Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 Take Home Treatment.

Granted, this is my first ever time trying the Olaplex No.3 Treatment for myself – although, after just literally washing this off my hair, I feel like I need to share my first impressions and thoughts on the highly-sought after product more or less straight of the way! I will, of course, continue to use this product by Olaplex, as it is recommended and keep you posted on my feelings and thoughts towards it until the very end of its use…

Background Information

I feel like I should begin by telling you just a little about my own hair condition, as I feel that this would certainly help you to get a perspective of whether the Olaplex No.3 Treatment would actually work for you or not.

I’ve been having my hair bleached and toned, every 3-4 weeks for just over the past year. Prior to this though, I have had my hair coloured and chemically treated quite a bit. I was blonde for a couple of years during secondary school and then went through a stage of blonde highlights and then blonde ombré/ dip dyeing. My hair is pretty tough, although all of this colouring, bleaching and chemical treating has certainly taken its toll on it. My hair is quite dry at the moment, it breaks pretty easily, to say the least, and has had some pretty severe breakage towards the top – where the damage is trying to recover and heal itself.

Of course, I do my best to take care of it but I am not an expert. I use hair masks specially formulated for chemically damaged/ dry hair and try to lay off the heat as much as possible. I have also recently had it chopped to shoulder length and try to maintain the dry ends by having light haircuts every three-six weeks.

The Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 Take Home Treatment

Olaplex says that this product should be used once a week, between chemical services to strengthen hair.

“The No.3 Hair Perfector is not a conditioner. No.3 is our at home bond builder that contains the same active ingredient found in all professional Olaplex products. Our patented technology relinks the broken disulfide bonds in every type of hair providing real, structural repair that works from within. For best results, please follow our instructions”.

Using Olaplex

When it came to using this product for myself, I decided to first soak my hair in the sink using just warm water, as Olaplex instruct that you should use this on unwashed but towel-dried hair.

After wettening my hair thoroughly, I took an old, thin towel and just patted off any excess water before applying three evenly dispensed blobs – one at a time – to my hair. I know Olaplex say to use this product generously but I only used perhaps a blob just bigger than a two-pound coin at a time. As this isn’t a hair mask or a conditioner, so I didn’t want to use it excessively for the first time and potentially waste a lot of expensive product. I also spaced out where I applied the No.3 treatment. For instance, one blob went on my roots, the next around mid-length and the final blob went through my ends. After then applying the treatment, you are supposed to gently comb through your hair, just to ensure that the cream treatment is evenly spread. For the duration of time that the treatment was in my hair- I decided to lightly place my hair in a thin, lightweight towel – as I didn’t want to sit with wet hair, soaking the back of my clothes.

As first impressions go, I must say that I am very impressed by this product up to now.

Whilst waiting for the shower to warm, I took my hair out of the towel and could instantly feel how lightweight my hair felt! Which has to be just a little bit ridiculous because my hair was actually semi-damp and coated with product at the time. In the shower and whilst washing this off with both shampoo and conditioner, I can tell you that my hair felt divine. It felt smooth, rather silky to tell you the truth and very light and healthy!

Sitting here now with freshly-washed, towel-dried hair, I can assure you that my hair feels great! It feels very light in weight, soft yet healthy and just really fresh but GOOD! I am definitely REALLY looking forward to continuing to use this product, as it recommends and seeing it hopefully transform the condition of my chemically treated hair!

Love, Jess
