A Face Of First Impressions (Bobbi Brown, TooFaced, Tom Ford, Juvia’s Place & Many More)

You may have noticed from in the title of this post that I haven’t included the word ‘FULL’ – i.e. ‘A FULL Face Of First Impressions… and that is simply down to the fact that there are some products within this look that I have indeed used and worn before. They are not products that admittingly I use regularly but they are still products that I must tell you I have tried before, and, therefore, I cannot give you my first impressions on in this post.

Within this post, I wanted to share with you all a collection of products that I have NEVER used together on my face. Some of them, as I have said previously, I did already own BUT the majority are still products that I have only just received and purchased, and, therefore, never tried before.

Stila One Step Correct

With using a foundation that I have never tried before and with that didn’t really know what to expect, in terms of application, coverage, and most importantly, finish. I wanted to use a primer that I know. One that I know I can trust, and one that I know works for me.

NEW Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF 15

As first impressions go I must tell you that I am very impressed by the NEW ‘Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation‘ by Bobbi Brown. It does have a rather strange and somewhat unique formula but never the less I really like how this foundation looks and sits on the skin (so far).

To apply, this foundation has quite a tacky consistency, which I must also add isn’t all that pleasant in my opinion. As I did blend this foundation into my skin – with my usual tool, which is a clean but dampened BeautyBlender, I must tell you that this foundation felt like it was drying practically instantly because it was a little difficult to work with as far as I could see. If there is just one thing that I have found and brought away from this first impressions, then that would be to apply this foundation in stages, just to avoid possible drying and a patchy finish.

To wear, I can’t say that I would ever personally feel confident enough to use a pressed powder or even loose setting powder of any sort over the top of this foundation. Only because my skin type is naturally dry and with this foundation’s somewhat dry texture and consistency, it could result with the foundation seperating on the surface of my skin but also appearing quite dry and cakey overall.

NEVER THE LESS, however, I would like to say that ABOVE ALL ELSE I really like the appearance of this foundation on my skin. As it begins to settle, that icky tacky texture disappears, revealing a very beautiful, practically flawless finish which feels very comfortable to wear and lasts pretty well throughout the day too.

Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer

As for concealer, I thought it would be best to use a corresponding Bobbi Brown product. The only Bobbi Brown concealer that I do already own, however, is the Instant Full Cover Concealer in the shade, Porcelain.

I must tell you that as first impressions go, this concealer worked beautifully with the foundation! I didn’t need to use a lot, thanks to the flawless finish and coverage of the NEW Bobbi Brown foundation but never the less with the use of this concealer, I was able to conceal the uneven complexion around my eyes and also brighten the skin in all of the appropriate places.

The Saharan Palette by Juvia’s

What can I say? This absolutely STUNNING palette caught my eye and my heart practically instantly when I first spotted it on the BeautyBay website!

The shade range is a dream from the gorgeously warm reds to those completely seductive sparkly sunset shades.

This is my first time properly trying this palette out, and in all, I would have to say that it MUST receive a MASSIVE pair of thumbs UP from me!! The shadows themselves are pigmented, pretty easy to blend and also give a very limited amount of fall out, which has always got to be positive. Hasn’t it?

This is going to be a beautiful palette to use throughout the hotter weather and just a really trustworthy palette to turn to I’m sure.

Tom Ford Extreme &
IT Cosmetics Tightline

I have in fact used both of these exciting products before, and from past experience also, let me first tell you that the IT Cosmetics Tightline is one amazing mascara to use on the lower lash line!

The highly luxurious and incredibly boujee Tom Ford Extreme mascara is a great product to use for achieving a very bold and defined eye in my opinion! With the ultra-rich black pigmented formula, this mascara really dramatises my lashes with length but mostly volume. It can be a little heavy to wear for a number of hours of wear throughout the day but this could well, in fact, be because I personally, really build the layers of this mascara up as I apply it, and that has to be thanks to the incredibly workable formula that this mascara so graciously has.

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Perfector (Universal Taupe)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo (Dark Brown)
Diorshow Bold Brow Mascara (021)

Again, I wanted to use a bunch of products that I already knew and know that I can already trust! Although, to mix things up just a little I have used one of the newer brow products that I recently purchased.

The IT Cosmetics Brow Power Perfector in the shade Universal Taupe is an incredibly soft brow pencil which can be a little difficult to work with in my opinion – from the quite chunky pencil shape that this product has. If there is just one thing that I have learnt about this product and will really try to adapt to when I next use it, then that would have to be to apply this product with a VERY light hand indeed!

Benefit Hoola Lite Bronzer

Seeing as I wasn’t actually going anywhere remotely ‘special’ the day of wearing this face of makeup, I decided to limit the contour and bronzer to just one really good product that I HAVE used many times before, and that HAS got to be the Hoola LITE bronzer by none other than Benefit!

Benefit Dandelion

After ‘contouring’ and slightly warming my complexion with a touch of the gorgeous Hoola Lite, I decided to apply just a touch of another pressed powder by Benefit that I know I love but hadn’t used in quite some time. The Dandelion blush by Benefit is a beautiful shade for a fairer skin tone like mine, and one that I am so glad to have rediscovered just in time for spring and summer here in the UK!

NEW TooFaced Diamond Highlighter Powder

WOW wow WOW! Isn’t she beautiful?

This highlighter has been on my wish-list since I first discovered that it was going to be released by TooFaced Cosmetics all of those weeks back. I, of course, fell in love with the sight of it instantly, but couldn’t decide as to whether I REALLY needed it in my life or not?! The answer here is without a doubt, no, of course, BUT then as a makeup junkie myself, I couldn’t resist but pick one of these up from the Debenhams website as soon I realised that it was here, in the UK, for sale!

As first impressions go, there is no regret here. I LOVE the shade. I LOVE the intensity of the highlight itself AND I LOVE the finish…

Review coming soon to Jellybluesblog.co.uk – let me know in the comments below if you’re excited?!

Lanolips Original Ointment

You know that I HAD to first prep my lips with one of my all-time FAVOURITE lip-caring products, which is, of course, the Lanolips 101 Ointment.

Bobbi Brown Art Stick Crayon (Rose Brown)

What can I say? I saw this product sitting on the beautiful Bobbi Brown beauty counter in my local Debenhams on Monday just gone, and couldn’t resist but picking one of these up and taking it straight to the sales counter.

From the large yet chunky tip that this lip pencil has, it intrigued my makeup addiction and fascination straight of the way!

After using this Art Stick by Bobbi Brown, in the shade Rose Brown, for the first time within this look, I can tell you that I do, in fact, really like it… It is surprisingly really easy to use and considerably quick also. The formula is creamy but workable and just really beautifully pigmented and buildable too. The finish is rather matte in my opinion but with perhaps the base of the Lanolips 101 Ointment that I’d applied prior, the finish of this on my lips appeared healthy looking, plump and hydrating also!

By the looks of things, I have very luckily found some really amazing and beautiful products that I think I am really going to enjoy using from this day forward. As first impressions go, however, you must remember that all opinions and views can change dramatically over time. I will be continuing to wear and test out ALL of the newer products that I am fortunate enough to get my hands on, and will, of course, be sure to keep you posted on my thoughts as I discover them more confidently over time.

Love, Jess
